The Maroon Bells are two fourteeners in the Elk Mountains near Aspen, Colorado, reflected here in Maroon Lake before dawn with autumn aspens lining the valley.

The peaks are made of mudstone that gives them their maroon colour, which glows faintly purple in the pre-dawn light under a sky still full of stars.
